— US In-game description. |
Pingrek is a Koppen Mahopon Uberhero first introduced in Patapon 3. A master of light magic, Pingrek is one of the few units and the only Yumiyacha-class unit capable of healing allies. In addition to healing, he can also protect his teammates by bolstering their defenses and nullifying status effects. However, Pingrek possess zero offensive properties and cannot deal any direct damage, and must rely on his allies to protect and guide him. In a pinch, he can conjure walls of ice to keep approaching enemies at bay and freeze them in their tracks.
Acquisition
Pingrek is at level 5 when unlocked, which is when Yumiyacha reaches level 5.
Appearance
Pingrek initially sports a pale blue mask in the form of a Koppen Rarepon and wears a blue cape by default.
As Pingrek evolves, his mask lightens in color and grows larger, resembling a Suppen. Finally, it turns white with red-orange accents, resembling a Supengu.
Equipment
Pingrek can be equipped with:
- Helms by default.
- Scepters and Shoes by default.
Uberhero Mode: Healing Chateau
- "Creates a giant ice castle that emits a visible energy which gradually heals allies."
During Healing Chateau, Pingrek summons a massive castle that emits a powerful healing aura, healing all allies within range. Compared to Bowmunk's Freaky Tree, Healing Chateau heals less but at a more rapid rate for more reliable healing. In addition, the chateau itself is a solid structure, allowing it to stop projectiles and cover allies. However, the chateau can be destroyed if it takes too much damage, ending Pingrek's Uberhero mode and causing him to tumble.
Class Skills
As with all Class Skills, each skill requires 100,000 experience to master. The amount of experience gained is dependent on the skill.
Set Skills
Pingrek can equip up to two Set Skills. At level 20, he can equip another Set Skill, for a total of three.
Skill | Description | Unlock Requirement |
---|---|---|
Antifreeze 1 | Doubles freeze resistance. | Reach level 10 |
Freeze Boost 1 | Freeze rate increased by 1.25 times. | Reach level 15 |
Freeze Boost 2 | Freeze rate increased by 1.5 times. | Reach level 25 |
Peerless Penguin | (Uberhero only) Maximum stamina is doubled but attack power is halved. | Reach level 32 |
Strategy
- As Pingrek is incapable of dealing direct damage, his attacks have some unique properties:
- PonPon will cause Pingrek to fire a bolt of magic at the closest enemy, freezing them and also incurring additional status effects, depending on the properties of his scepter.
- ChakaChaka allows Pingrek to harness the power of his scepter, which will either restore stamina, dispel status effects, and/or temporarily increasing defense.
- PonChaka followed by PonPon will cause Pingrek to summon a wall of ice to impede approaching enemies. Up to eight walls can be created. The ice walls will break after taking enough damage, and will explode in a freezing mist if the Freeze Trap Class Skill has been unlocked.
- PonChaka followed by ChakaChaka will simply result in a stronger ChakaChaka effect.
- When the Healing Chateau is destroyed, Pingrek will tumble and remain on the ground for about 4 measures. This can be shortened with the DonChaka song.
- When equipped with a Maelstrom Scepter, his Ice Wall and Freeze Trap turns Dark Blue and has Freeze and Sleep effects. When equipped with a Scepter of Rahmon, the Freeze Trap turns Purple and has Poison effects.
- Pingrek's healing power is dependent on his strength, meaning that the higher the strength, the more Pingrek heals.

Trivia
- Pingrek is the only Uberhero whose Uberhero Mode can be cut short by the opposition without just killing the Uberhero.
- The Uberhero Pingrek is shorter compared to the other Uberheroes despite Mahopons typically being taller than normal Patapons.
- Pingrek is the only unit in the game who doesn't have any attack element (as in Slash, Strike, Stab, etc.). Because of this, Pingrek cannot directly damage enemies or structures.
- Peerless Penguin incorrectly states that it halves attack power, but in actuality it halves attack speed.
- Pingrek's charge attack and defend is the opposite of Bowmunk's. Pingrek's charge defend performs Hero Mode or healing, while Bowmunk can heal units with his charge attack. Bowmunk's charge defend is a large boulder, which is nearly similar to Pingrek's charge attack, the Ice Wall.
- Pingrek and Oohoroc have the lowest base HP of all classes in Patapon 3, getting +1k stamina at level 9.
- Pingrek and Bowmunk are the only classes to gain a welcome bonus for healing power.
